Ingredients
- 1 box of chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup of water
- 1/2 cup of vegetable oil
- 3 large eggs
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Mix until smooth.
- Pour half of the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 15 minutes until edges are set but center remains slightly undercooked.
- While baking, prepare the filling by beating together cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. Fold in chopped strawberries.
- Remove the cake from the oven and spread the cream cheese mixture over it evenly. Cover with remaining batter.
- Bake for an additional 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top during the last 5 minutes.
- Allow to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
