Ingredients
- 3 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 4 large egg yolks
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Fresh berries for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out puff pastry sheets and cut into equal rectangles.
- Place on parchment-lined trays, prick with a fork, cover with another tray, and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden. Cool completely.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the milk. In a bowl, whisk egg yolks, sugar, and cornstarch; gradually add warm milk.
- Return mixture to saucepan and cook until thickened, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and stir in butter and vanilla.
- On a serving plate, layer puff pastry and custard alternately until all are used, finishing with pastry.
- Chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight before serving. Dust with powdered sugar and add fresh berries if desired.
